Prior to establishing Austin Hi-Tex, LeRoy Tavares was president of Ecensity Corporation, a Franco-American software startup providing composite application technology to enterprise customers. He was general manager of US operations, responsible for revenue and regional P/L, and sat on the board of directors.

LeRoy was formerly vice president of business development, North America, for Maximal Corporation, an Israeli business intelligence software vendor. He established its US subsidiary in Austin and conducted joint field marketing with Microsoft, which later acquired Maximal.  Before Maximal, he provided business development consulting to APILink Software SA, Paris, France, a middleware vendor. LeRoy co-founded NOW Information Technology AG, a client/server consulting firm based in Zug, Switzerland, that became the country's exclusive Powersoft distributor. As NOW's managing director he was responsible for accounts at Global 500 companies such as Nestlé, Hoffman-La Roche, Swiss Re, Ciba-Geigy, and the Bank for International Settlements. LeRoy held IT positions at Gap, Inc., and ran a successful computer consulting practice in San Francisco.
